Substrand: "5.5 Solubility" (20 periods)

Substances in nature are either a single pure substance, or a mixture of more than one substance. Some substances can dissolve to form solutions, others do not dissolve thus, form a suspension in the liquid. Mixtures form when two or more substances are mixed without any chemical change. Mixtures can be separated using mechanical or physical methods, e.g. Evaporation, filtration, sedimentation and decanting. A solution forms when a substance in the solid state (the solute) dissolves (disappears) in a liquid (the solvent).
