Strand 6: Research and Study Skills

This component aims to equip learners with basic skills in research and study so that they can use them to become successful in their learning, both in English and other subjects  This strand has two substrands: using the library or internet and research and study skills. In library skills learners will learn to use the library and its lay-out and the Dewey Decimal System used for the classification of books. Under research and study skills learners will be introduced to a variety of research and study skills ranging from basic study skills such as how to study, to basic research skills such as interviewing and report writing. If there is an internet service available, learners will be introduced to the internet as an important research tool and alternative source of information. Through these skills learners will learn to work independently through self discipline and time management and learn to take pride in the quality of the presentation of their work.
