Strand 4: Healthy Communities and Environments

This strand focuses on clean healthy communities and environment and the emphasis is on clean water and sanitation. Learners practise how to use water and toilet properly and wisely at school, home and in their villages and public places. They also learn how to care for their water sources, how water and sanitation affect health as well as water borne related diseases. Learners will develop an appreciation of their personal responsibility for home, school and community environments as well as how to make positive changes through individual and collective action. Learners will gain an understanding of the influences that affect individual, group and community well being and health and how environmental issues affect an individual’s health.
