Strand 2: Energy and Change

Substrand: "4.3 Heat"
(20 periods)
Heat is a form of energy. It can be transferred through the air and through liquids. Objects can gain or lose heat energy. When objects are heated they gain heat energy. They lose heat energy when cooled. When an object gains or loses heat energy, it’s temperature changes. Temperature is the measure of how hot or how cold an object is. Heating and cooling are important processes that bring about physical changes of state in substances, e.g. cooling liquid water can result in solid water (ice).
