Section 3: Aims
The Mathematics syllabus aims to:
- introduce mathematical concepts through relevant experiences in real situations
- make mathematics relevant to the local environment and culture
- involve learners in practical activities which are relevant to their age and experience
- encourage effective planning and presentation and varied and interesting lessons
- encourage learners to use mathematical skills in practical activities and problem solving
- encourage learners to appreciate and enjoy the aesthetic nature of mathematics encourage exploration and investigation
- encourage students to talk about their mathematical activities, describing what they do and why
- they do it, so as to deepen their understanding and application of mathematical concepts and skills
- provide authentic contexts for the ongoing development of English language.
